festivals, such as our internationally renowned Niagara Wine Festival, as well as
hayrides, ice carving competitions, and of course, our popular Icewine Festival. From
cultural and ethnic events to wine festivals, food and wine tastings, community events and

- This event centres on a piper led stroll through the park, music, displays and prizes.

The run responds to a tremendous need in our community for assistance in many cancer
related areas, by giving the funds we raise directly to cancer care in Niagara. The event

Hooked on Fishing Not on DrugsŪ is having their 14th Annual FREE Children's Fishing Event
hosted at Windmill Point Park in Ridgeway, Ontario on Sunday May 29, 2011 from 9am-4pm.
This is a FREE TROUT FISHING EVENT for children, students and the young at heart. Hooked
on Fishing Not on DrugsŪ is a non-profit organization. It is an internationally known
drug awareness program used in schools, churches, police departments, and youth
organizations. The program provides students with an alternative from drugs through the
sport of fishing, teaches environmental conservation and helps bring families closer
together.
This is a drug and alcohol free event. There is no entry fee or fishing licence required
for participants. There is a FREE (one-time) registration upon arrival. The
participants registered ballot is entered into a draw for a chance to win a prize,
whether or not the participant has caught a fish! We like to draw a few names every hour
for prizes

hard-surface accessibility for scooters and wheelchairs. There are no benches or seats, so
bring a lawn chair or blanket if youd like to sit, but be prepared to dance!

street and take in the fantastic array of vehicles on display.
You'll want to set aside the entire day, as there are more than just classic cars
Downtown.The merchants have great summer sales and cool boutiques to browse around in,
there's a fabulous selection of restaurants and patio's to kick up your feet and have a
bite to eat. Plus there are 2 stages filled with entertainment to check out. The 123 Stage
will have Good Rockin Tonight (tribute to Johnny Cash, Carl Perking and Jerry Lee Lewis)
starting at 11am and playing throughout the day. The 366 Stage will be hosting Niagara's
Second Fiddle Festival, entertaining audience's young and old all day.
Free public parking at all city parking garages (St. Paul Street & Carlisle
Street), lots (Market Square & Garden Park) and meters (along King St. and over to
Church St.). So you won't have to worry about how long you are here or where to find a
place to park.
Classic and Custom Vehicle Show N Shine information: no registration, admission or
parking fee's. No registration this year. Goodie bags will be given out at the gate to the
first 250 vehicles to arrive. Streets close at 8am and reopen at 5pm, please arrive
between 8am and 12 noon for parking within the show area - we are usually full and have
very limited parking left after 12noon. If you would like to park near/with your friends,
please all arrive together as it is extremely difficult to save spots. Niagara Corvette
Club will be on site helping out with parking this year...and taking donations for the

Thai Boxing originated in Thailand thousands of years ago as a form of military combat. It
has also been called the science of 8 limbs as it incorporates the hands, elbows, knees
and legs. In recent years its popularity has spread rapidly throughout the world, gaining
recognition as the most effective stand-up fighting style. Even with its worldwide appeal,
Thai Boxing retains much of its history and culture. Many Thai Boxers still perform the

As stewards of the land from which we craft our wines, the Wineries of
Niagara-on-the-Lake are partnering with Carbonzero in the efforts of making Taste the
Season a carbon neutral event. A portion of each touring pass sale will be directed
towards the purchase of Carbon Offsets in support of Niagara East Landfill Gas Utilization
Project. Carbon Offsets are verified reductions of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,
designed to help minimize climate change by offsetting an emissions-producing activity.
Offset purchasers like Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, take responsibility for the
emissions they are unable to reduce by investing in GHG reductions elsewhere.

In the spirit of the holiday season, the St. Catharines Recreation and Community Services
Department will be displaying our 12th annual Tree of Little Angels. The trees contain the
names and ages of children who, without our help, may not experience the season of giving.
Select a "Little Angel" from a tree and purchase a gift to make the child's
holiday season special. Trees will be located at West Park Pool, Community Centres,
Senior Centres, Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre and the Recreation and
Community Services Department at 320 Geneva Street. Contact the Recreation Coordinator at

Downtown Chili Cook Off
Market Square in Downtown St. CatharinesThe aroma of chili will be filling the air over
lunch hour, in downtown St. Catharines, as the fifth annual Downtown Chili Cook-off gets
under way. The event will feature cooks and their teams vying for trophies along with
bragging rights for the year.
Tickets will be sold at the door, including tickets to sample 10 different entries, water,
and a ballot to vote for the Peoples' Choice chili. Tickets available at the door for the
competition and tasting, but to avoid disappointment be sure to come early! A panel of
judges, including St. Catharines dignitaries and community personalities, will judge the
competition chili, in a blind taste test. The winners for the judged and peoples
choice awards will be announced at the end of the event. All proceeds going to Community
Care. The cook-off will benefit Community Care programs in St. Catharines, and Community
Care will be on hand at the event selling toques, soft drinks and taking donations. |
