Trafalgar Day at the Sovereign House recognizes one of the biggest celebrities of 1800,
Admiral Horatio Nelson's name was known all over the British Empire. At the same time,
Halton County, on the shores of Lake Ontario, was being surveyed for pioneer settlement.
This event celebrates our communitys place names. Enjoy hot apple cider, tea and
victory rum cake. Donations to the Bronte Historical Society gratefully accepted.

Halloween Happenings

Oakvilles most anticipated Halloween haunt! This daylong event is ghoulishly fun for
the young and the young at heart. Those under 10 will enjoy the not-so-scary KidsZone and
scavenger hunt, bouncy castles, face painting, a harmonica clinic and live entertainment.
Tweens, teens and adults will experience a frightful walk through the Haunted House of
Horrorsif theyre brave enough to enter the ScareZone. Kids of all ages are
invited to participate in the Nightmare on Kerr Street skateboarding competition. Live
musical performances are scheduled throughout the day. |

Join the Town of Oakville and the world by participating in Earth Hour 2011!
Earth Hour is a global lights-out initiative created by the World Wildlife Fund. Millions
of people around the globe and here in Canada will turn off their lights for one hour on
March 28 at 8:30 p.m. to show support for action on climate change.
Last year, residents surpassed the 5 per cent energy conservation goal and achieved energy
savings of 8.2 per cent. This year the Town's goal is to reduce energy consumption by 10
per cent during the hour! |

Oakville Super Cities WALK for MS
Central West Specialized Development Services Bldg. (Formally the Oaklands
Regional Centre)
53 Bond Street, OakvilleThe Super Cities WALK is the MS Societys largest
pledge-based fundraiser involving over 70,000 participants and volunteers in more than 160
communities across Canada in the spring and early fall. Each event location has routes of
varying length and at least one that is wheelchair accessible. The WALK began in 1991 and
is now one of our most important events. In 2007, it raised over $13.2 million, the
proceeds of which have gone to fund research in the search for a cure and vital services
for people currently living with MS. Although each community leaves their own unique mark
on the event, no matter where you live you can be sure that youll come out to
experience a day full of excitement and hope that one day we will live in a world without
MS, and youll leave knowing that you are a valuable contributor to making it a
reality. The Super Cities WALK is truly a family-oriented, community-supported event that
makes a difference in the lives of Canadians living with MS.

Oakville's Annual Earth Week Clean Up! The goals of the local Earth Week
celebration have remained unchanged for 17 years: Promote awareness and respect for local
nature and waterways; Beautify the local natural environment by removing garbage from
parks, ravines and the shores of waterways including creeks and public spaces along Lake
Ontario. Encourage environmental activism, especially in schools, and to bring the
community together in a constructive and conscientious project for their personal health,
wildlife and our environment.
More than 37,000+ students and people from all walks of life have participated in making
the past fourteen annual Earth Week Clean Ups a huge environmental success at 30
nature sites in Oakville. |

The Amarna Associates have generously issued a match challenge to all donors who pledge to
this year's OTMH Classic. The Amarna Fund will match pledges of $50 or more at 30%, up to

Come out to celebrate Oakvilles Canada Day in Brontes Heritage Waterfront
Park, located between East Street and on Bronte Road south of Lakeshore Rd. W. Bring your
lawn chair and blanket for this event that features great food, lively entertainment, lots
of shopping, and many fun activities. Finish off the day with a concert and a spectacular
fireworks display just off the Bronte Pier. This year, PARKING WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE in
the immediate area for those coming to see the fireworks in the evening. A shuttle bus
service (not Oakville Transit) is being used to transport people from different parking
