The Watch plays Genesis "Selling England by the Pound"

The Studio

The Watch has progressed quickly from their debut release in 2001. Today, The Watch are a well-known act in the world prog community and are appreciated for their authenticity. Melody and energy are the main aspects of The Watch music and the live dimension is one of the greatest attributes of the band. Their music is inspired by artists of the seventies, primarily early Genesis, owing to an incredible similarity between lead singer Simone Rossetti’s vocals and those of a younger Peter Gabriel. Despite this parallel, however, the band has its own style combining classical prog atmospheres with a sprinkling of modernity.

The Studio

The horizon. Where things end, where things begin, and the point where possibilities are limitless. Inspired decision, then, that Juno Award-winning trio Bedouin Soundclash should choose to dub their latest collection of west-friendly, world-pop Light the Horizon. Inspired. And fitting. "This record is really looking forward," says vocalist Jay Malinowski. "It’s from the point where we don’t have any baggage from the past. We’re just genuinely in the moment with this record, for the first time in a long time." Soundclash co-founder and bassist Eon Sinclair agrees. "It’s a really optimistic and hopeful record," he says. "That’s been said about some of the stuff we’ve done in the past, but this time we’re just feeling more self-assured and more confident in doing what it is that we do in Bedouin Soundclash. It’s positive and optimistic and forward-looking."

Over his almost two-decade career, Good has taken us on a journey. From The Matthew Good Band to Hospital Music, to his 2011 JUNO winning release, Vancouver, Good continually pushes forward into uncharted territory; mapping new musical landscapes most recently showcased on his latest release, Lights Of Endangered Species (May 31, 2011 / Universal Music Canada).

Mumford and Sons

Copps Coliseum

Since they formed in December 2007, the members of Mumford & Sons have shared a common purpose: to make music that matters, without taking themselves too seriously. Four young men from West London in their early twenties, they have fire in their bellies, romance in their hearts, and rapture in their masterful, melancholy voices. They are staunch friends - Marcus Mumford, Country Winston, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane - who bring their music to us with the passion and pride of an old-fashioned, much-cherished, family business. They create a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with the might of Kings Of Leon, and their incredible energy draws us in quickly to their circle of songs, to the warmth of their stories, and to their magical community of misty-eyed men.

On Collider, that circle expanded to include Chicago-based producer Brian Deck, a veteran of acclaimed indie-rock bands Red Red Meat and Ugly Casanova, but also a seasoned studio savant who has overseen albums by everyone from Modest Mouse to Iron and Wine to Califone to Gomez. All started with our participation in a festival held at the Toichi shrine in Kashihara-shi, Nara. We played a piece called “Hyuga” which I composed. Then a newspaper journalist asked for our name for his article, and we didn’t have one. So I just said “Yamato” which just popped out of my head. “Sounds like a road-side cafe” was an often heard comment then, but the name has come to suit us. It just started as a one-off performance, but invitations from many places started to come in and now we run “round the world tours” with more than 150-200 performances a year everywhere in the world. The numbers in the members has grown from four to fifteen now, with both males and females.
