happening in Brampton.
Art Gallery of Peel holds the largest public collection
in Peel Region including more than 2500 paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures from
noted international artists such as Andy Warhol, to Canadians Tom
Thomson, Michael Snow, Joyce Weiland and Doris McCarthy, the Gallery's collection
features a dynamic array of historical and contemporary works.
The Whitney Community Gallery is devoted to showcasing
Peel artists, craftspeople and collectors. This premier exhibition area; an ideal
introduction to the many facets of Peel's cultural life, is made possible thanks to The
Whitney Group. The Whitney Community Gallery sponsorship allows the Peel
Heritage Complex to explore new partnerships and keeps arts and culture alive in our
community. Our thanks to The Whitney Group for their ongoing support.
Beaux-Arts Brampton is a non-profit artist run visual
artists' co-operative. Beaux-Arts Brampton has been successful in running a Gallery,
Shared Workshop Studio and ten individual artists studios since April 2002. The Beaux Arts
Gallery have a reputation for being a friendly place to visit.

CONTEMPORARY DRAWINGS - OR ARE THEY PAINTINGS?

Opening Reception: Saturday November 5 -- 11 am to 2 pm
Gwen will present a series that will include drawings executed in acrylics and various drawing media as appropriate. The works will express feelings on various themes. Gwen has always practiced drawing portraits. She paints to express energy, soul and mood. She draws in black and white with acrylic media to express various life situations and emotions.
Recently, she completed a series of drawings (blurring into paintings) which emerged from her subconscious first in pen and ink sketches and later appeared on nineteen canvases as abstracted black and white portraits. Having recently read the diary and letters of the German artist, Kathe Kollwitz, she was so moved by the grief and sadness in her life that she was inspired to create a series of sketches and drawings/paintings. |

NORTH BY NORTHWEST

“North by Northwest” is a show featuring works by a diverse group of artists working in the northwest region of the GTA. Featured is a diversity of styles, content, medium and size of works. Artists range from a recognized Canadian illustrator to painters who have shown widely in Canada and the US.
The group has garnered many awards for their work.
